Why Brow Lifts Are One of the Most Popular Botox Treatments

Why Brow Lifts Are One of the Most Popular Botox Treatments

Ever woken up and noticed the top of your forehead has a few new lines?

Or did you just get done squinting at your computer and noticed a little crow’s foot by the outside corner of your eye?

Whatever the case may be, lines between and above the eyebrows (the horizontal forehead creases) are one of the deepest wrinkles on the face—and also one of the earliest.

If you remember high school math, you can add two-plus-two and realize that there’s a direct relationship between chronological age and the number of horizontal forehead lines.

This is where Botox eyebrow lifts come in. This treatment is a winning solution to remove the horizontal lines between and above your eyebrows. Taking about 30 minutes to complete, this treatment has been popular for over a decade as a non-surgical option that’s fast, safe, and effective. And if you're looking for a place to get Botox Boston treatments, look no further than Skin Deep Med Spa.

What Is A Botox Brow Lift Injection?

Botox is a biological neurotoxin. It works by blocking nerve impulses to muscles by preventing the release of acetylcholine, a chemical needed to cause muscles to contract.

The botulinum toxin is injected into specific facial muscles and blocks the muscle actions that lead to the formation of frown lines and crow's feet. By weakening the muscles that cause wrinkles, Botox lifts and tightens facial skin over time.

A Botox eyebrow lift is a procedure where small doses of the wrinkle-smoothing, toxin-based Botox filler are injected into specific areas of the brow.

The most common areas include between and above the brows, although sometimes augmenting the start of the brow upwards is also done.

A Botox brow lift is a great alternative to a surgical brow lift for patients who are looking to address shallow nasal brows or furrows between the brows but do not want the scars from a surgical brow lift.

Some patients have a mild degree of sagging of the forehead and upper eyelids, and a Botox brow lift can help restore a youthful appearance by creating a subtle elevation of the eyebrow line while maintaining an open and relaxed facial expression.

How Long Does a Botox Brow Lift last?

The forehead lines are created by the position of the brow on the face. When you raise your brow, you create horizontal lines in the skin. The Botox eyebrow lift is designed to block or relax that movement, thereby smoothing out those lines for up to 3-4 months.

When the entire eyebrow is "droopy" or "sad-looking", it is best to treat both lateral eyebrows with Botox. This way, there are no asymmetries, which may distract the viewer's attention.

The amount of Botox needed depends on the density of the patient's facial muscles, as well as how deep they are present.

The principle of a brow lift is the rejuvenation of the horizontal folds over the brows and forehead. The wrinkles can be deep and a Botox eyebrow lift takes 4 to 6 units per side at the lateral aspect of each eyebrow to achieve the optimal look.

Does a Botox Brow Lift Hurt?

Botox injections are used to soften brow lines, crow’s feet, forehead frown lines, and other wrinkle areas. When injecting these areas, you should feel nothing but the pressure of the syringe injecting the botulinum toxin beneath your skin.

Botox injections do not hurt beyond a pinch when injected for these cosmetic uses.

However, some patients may experience mild discomfort or pressure as the Botox relaxes their muscles. We recommend that you use a topical cream to numb your face 30 minutes before the treatment if you are concerned about any potential discomfort.

How Should You Prepare For a Botox Brow Lift?

Preparation is crucial for an effective Botox brow lift. There are specific steps you should take to maximize the effectiveness of the procedure.

You must refrain from any blood thinners such as Coumadin, aspirin, Aleve, Advil, or Motrin for one week before having the procedure and discontinuing multivitamins and vitamin E. These chemicals may cause blood thinning which will in turn reduce the effectiveness of your results.

Starting two days before injection, refrain from consuming alcohol to facilitate safe recovery. We recommend that you use a topical cream to numb your face 30 minutes before the treatment if you are concerned about any potential discomfort.

Non-Surgical Botox Eyebrow Lifts

In this noninvasive brow lift procedure, a small amount of Botox will be injected above the lateral aspect of the eyebrows. This in turn helps lift droopy brows, remove forehead wrinkles and lines, and provide a lift to facial muscles in the forehead area.

By injecting small amounts of Botox directly into this area, it prevents the contraction of forehead muscles subsequently removing wrinkles and lines. The results are seen anywhere between 1-14 days post treatment with minimal downtime, which means you can maintain a fresh and youthful appearance in a short amount of time.

Surgical Botox Eyebrow Lifts

There are two types of surgical brow lifts: the endoscopic brow lift and the coronal brow lift. Which eyelid surgery is right for you?

Endoscopic Brow Lifts

An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive, outpatient facial procedure designed to elevate sagging eyebrows to prevent the effects of aging.

This popular treatment uses an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera attached) to create incisions for lifting or creating new eyebrow hair follicles.

When well-executed, endoscopic brow lifts produce results similar to traditional brow lifts but are less invasive, making them especially beneficial for young patients or are considering additional procedures in the future. Please note: we do not offer surgical treatments at Skin Deep Med Spa.

Coronal Brow Lifts

With a coronal brow lift, the surgeon will remove a small amount of tissue from the forehead and reposition the underlying muscle and tissue.

The procedure rejuvenates the upper third of the face, improving an individual's appearance by eliminating excess skin that can give a sagging or tired look. When well performed, a brow lift usually takes less than one hour to complete.  Please note: we do not offer surgical treatments at Skin Deep Med Spa.

What Should You Expect After a Botox Brow Lift?

After your Botox brow lift treatment, you should expect some swelling, redness, and discomfort in the treatment area. There may be some localized bruising which is usually temporary. If you

To ensure your safety, we recommend applying ice directly to the treatment area immediately. You should also avoid exercise or saunas for 24 to 48 hours.
