VI Peels and Pores: The Truth

VI Peels and Pores: The Truth

Skin pores are one of the first parts of your skin to show signs of aging. If you’ve ever tried unsuccessfully to clean the crud out or shrink your pores with a product, you’re not alone. One of the best ways to clear out your pores is undergoing VI Peels in Boston.

Pore clogs are nature's way of keeping debris and germs in the air and on your skin out of your body—a small price to pay for clean skin, right?

However, the problem arises when clogs become so big that they can't keep more than a few skin cells from escaping, creating black dots on your face. These dots look and feel like dried-up pieces of dirt hiding under shiny little caps called comedones such as whiteheads or blackheads.

VI Peels for skin pores are here to clear out those clogged pores so your skin can be healthy and glowing. Let’s look at the benefits of this skin treatment—how it works and how they can help you achieve beautiful, smooth, and radiant-looking skin.

What Causes Clogged Pores?

During our younger years, our skin naturally rejuvenates itself by producing generous amounts of elastin, collagen, and keratin. As we age, skin cells regenerate much more slowly. Oil-producing sebaceous glands mix with dead skin cells to form a glue-like substance that clogs pores.

Cloaked in a thick layer of fatty tissue and keratin, the pores enlarge, resulting in larger-looking ones and visible fine lines and wrinkles. Repeat this process year after year, decade after decade, and you’ll have little pools of oil collecting in all the nooks and crannies of your complexion.

What is a VI Peel?

Vi Peels are made of naturally derived ingredients carefully selected for their capability to gently strip away dull surface layers, deeply cleanse pores, and exfoliate away dead skin cells revealing a smooth skin tone and even skin texture.

Just like conventional chemical peels, they deliver similar benefits by using peptides to increase the absorption of active ingredients into the skin. Therefore, it makes them more effective than a traditional chemical peel and avoids side effects such as inflammation and overly dry skin.

VI Peels treat the causes and symptoms of aging skin, including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Treat acne-prone skin
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sagging skin

VI Peels and Pores

Most of us don't think about our pores much. After all, most of them are invisible to the naked eye. We don't think about them unless there's a problem, such as clogged pores, blackheads, and whiteheads. But that's when we need to be thinking about what we can do for our pores.

When you have problems with your pores, you probably want to unclog them immediately. You might turn to facial scrubs or harsh astringent lotions that promise to eliminate oil and dirt from your pores. Unfortunately, using those products can worsen the problem by causing irritation or redness and swelling in your skin.

That's why VI Peels are so different, they work differently than most other skincare products on the market. This chemical peel uses a combination of ingredients that work gently on your skin without causing irritation or redness. That means it's not just good for your pores, but it's also good for the overall health of your skin.

How Does VI Peel Work on Pores?

To prepare for your VI Peel treatment you should wash your face with a mild cleanser before the peel is applied. You may also wish to use a topical numbing cream 30 to 60 minutes before the procedure. This will make the process more comfortable.

It starts with a blend of chemicals designed to penetrate deep into the layers of your skin, where oil and build-up of dirt happen in your pores—in the lower part of the epidermis and upper part of the dermis.

The VI Peel solution is a mixture of water, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, and a mineral blend.

It also contains phenol which has a profound effect on all layers of the skin. It penetrates deep into the skin to remove dead cells while stimulating collagen production at the same time. This gives your face the smoothness and glows unmatched by any other treatment available today. The result is younger-looking skin with minimal discomfort or downtime!

Potential Side Effects

Like any other cosmetic procedure, the VI peel does have the potential for side effects. Although the side effects are rare and temporary, it is still important to note them. Below, we will list some of the side effects individuals may experience when undergoing this procedure.

  • Mild swelling of the skin in the treatment area.
  • Redness of the skin can last from several days to several weeks.
  • Stinging or burning sensation of the skin after treatment.
  • Flaking, dryness, or peeling of the skin, which will last from several days to one week.
  • Temporary darkening or lightening of treated areas.
  • Blistering but rare.
  • Scarring but very rare.

Aftercare Tips

Moisturize the face and neck twice daily with a multi-purpose ointment that protects and soothes for seven days after the peel, this will help with itchiness, dryness, and skin peeling.

Do not do anything that will cause you to sweat for about a week. This includes working out, tanning beds, and saunas. These activities will increase inflammation and may cause complications with your VI Peel.

Do not pick at or scratch your face. If your skin has started to flake or peel, DO NOT PICK! You can use a Q-tip with mild soap and water to gently remove the excess dead skin. You should also avoid removing any crusting or peeling from the skin using any abrasive product or washcloth.

Avoid direct sunlight for a minimum of a week after your chemical peel treatment, even if you are wearing sunscreen. When outdoors, wear a wide-brimmed hat for additional protection for your face and neck.

Avoid any products containing Retin-A, Retinol, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA), benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid as this may be too irritating to your skin following the treatment.

Do not use makeup or concealers until all skin flakes have fallen off naturally, this should take about a week to 10 days.
